Farm Fresh takes on Nxled, while Creamline battles Akari in do-or-die matches Tuesday in the Premier Volleyball League All-Filipino Conference at the Playtime FilOil Centre in San Juan.
The winners will join PLDT and Cignal in the round robin semifinals.
Both Farm Fresh and Creamline found themselves in a precarious situation after falling short in the Qualifying Round, while Nxled and Akari clawed their way through the knockout stages.
Nxled swept Galeries Tower (25-23, 25-18, 25-23) and Akari survived Choco Mucho (25-15, 23-25, 25-16, 15-25, 21-19) in the play-in Round 4 matches last March 28.
The Farm Fresh Foxies and the Nxled Chameleon square off at 4 p.m.
“I am playing with a team that is normally facing every single final part of the season with a lot of very good attitude and amazing results. So, how to explain? It's risky every single time to play games like this. But for us, probably, it's more risky to play games that we have to win compared to the games that we can't win,” said Nxled head coach Ettore Guidetti in a news release Monday.
"It's a game that we had to win. And it was kind of emotionally tough. Now, we play with a big team. And that's a game that we can win. And maybe, emotionally, it will be a little more easier for us to play against a big team,” he added.
But Farm Fresh is no less dangerous. Armed with scoring punch, veteran savvy and depth across positions, the Foxies have all the tools to match the Chameleons point for point.
Meanwhile, Creamline's championship pedigree gives it an edge in experience against Akari in their 6:30 p.m. encounter.
The Chargers, however, have proven they can rise above pressure, overturn expectations and deliver when it matters most. (PNA)
