Airport
Safety-related upgrades were recently made at the Laguindingan International Airport (LIA) to ensure efficient operations of aircraft and reduce risks.
Abotiz InfraCapital (AIC), in a news release Monday, said new and refreshed markings were created at the apron level, or the paved area designated for aircraft parking, to provide clearer guidance for aircraft and ground personnel.
This helps in streamlining aircraft movement, contributing to more efficient turnarounds and minimizing potential delays, it said.
Additional foreign object debris bins were also placed across airside areas, keeping operational zones free of loose materials, thus reducing risks to aircraft.
The airside upgrades complement the recently completed runway works, which include the repainting of apron bollards and pedestrian lanes, runway inspections, rubber removal and crack repairs to ensure optimal surface conditions.
“While these improvements take place behind the scenes, they play a critical role in delivering a seamless passenger journey at Laguindingan International Airport. In keeping with our overall vision for Aboitiz InfraCapital Airports, safer and more efficient airside operations translate to more reliable flights and an overall better airport experience,” AIC Vice President and Head of Airports Rafael Aboitiz said.
AIC has been managing the development and modernization of LIA through a concession agreement with the government.
LIA is positioned to be a key regional hub supporting Mindanao’s trade, tourism and economic development, the AIC said. (PNA)
